I Want Custody Of My Deceased Son

Afternoon Voice

Mumbai, 1st Dec:- Mohammed Ali Kacchi, resident of Nagapada and a Senior Citizen is waiting to see the dead body of his deceased son Mohammed Iqhlaque kacchi since 29 Days. Every morning Mohammed Ali goes to Saudi Embassy to get a visa for Saudi Arabia where he can go and bring his sons body back to Indian but he hears no everyday. It was a shocking day for Kacchi family when they received a call of Death from one of his close friend in Saudi on 2nd of November.

Mohammed Iqhlaque who was been recruited for the job of House Driver for Al Gassim (K.S.A), by Hyder Ali, prop of Al-Shafi travels located in Nagpada Patel arcade. Instead of driving Iqhlaque was asked to do some tedious job when he met his sponsor in Riyadh. And on the day of his death he was send inside the Perol Tank for cleaning purpose for which he was not trained and also not aware of the consequences died within minutes he entered the tank which was full of carbon monoxide. After which he was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead, after which his body was subsequently shifted to Alras Hospital’s morgue in Riyadh where his body is lying there since 29days.

In this case his sponsor Mr Saleh Ibrahim Suleman Al Fazlaan if proven guilty then he is liable to make a payment of 1lakh 25 thousand Riyals which is approximately Rs1.5 Crore, the Body has to go through Postmortem to find the reason of death but the Iqhlaques body has not been sent to Postmortem since 29 days has passed. Iqhlaques father Mohammed Ali says that “the reason Alras hospital has stopped his postmortem is to let the signs of carbon monoxide gas present in his chest may disperse, due to which his sponsor wouldn’t be guilty or liable to pay the amount.

His Family never knew Iqlaque who was returning back to India after 24 months from Saudi, for his marriage held in January would never be seen alive. When we tried contacting Hyder Ali who provided visa to Iqhlaque for Riyadh was not available for the comment. Since the day Iqhlaque died his family has written letter to the Labour Ministry of India, Principle Secretary to prime Minister of India, Principle secretary to President of India, but there are no response upto now from their side. Instead of writing numbers of letters to the Community welfare wing in Riyadh there is no reply from their side as well.

The only request of the victims father is to give him a visa so he can carry out the funeral procession by bringing in his sons body to India or burying him in Riyadh which is not fulfilled by the Saudi Embassy in Mumbai Officials of Saudi embassy India has asked Mohammed Ali to show them the death certificate, which is only possible after the postmortem report, only after which he will get the visa for Saudi. Why the Postmortem is kept on hold no officials have any answer and Mohammed Ali too doesn’t know whom to approach for this issue.

Mr. Mohammed Bin Ali Abu Malik a senior lawyer of Riyadh high court is ready to assist the victim’s father in this case when he was approached by a Mail from Mumbai by victim’s father.

Mohammed Ali Kacchi who earns a living as hawker was depended upon his son and doesn’t know whom to approach and what to do in circumstances like this. Inspite of loosing his son he has to bear the pain as well as handle his family where he is the only sole earner. Mrs Aisha Kacchi whose tears are gone dry crying since 29 days is waiting to see his son’s dead body.

Mohammed Ali says while crying that “he is fed up of running throughout the Saudi embassy everyday and his last wish is to see his son and bury him according to the Muslims burial procedure” also he added that “we cant sleep in night when we realize that our son is still lying in freezing morgue”.

Incident such as these are very common where Mumbai based agents send laborers in the name of driving and there they are forced to do the work for which technically they aren’t trained. Numbers of labors die outside India when they are at their work in Middle East very few sponsors pay the debt for which they are liable and rest of all escape by bribing in countries of Arab. Where the shariah law (Islamic law) says to bury the body as soon as possible after the death, but in this case the Burial process is kept on hault for about a month, and no action is yet taken by Community Welfare Wing Saudi Arabia.
